Occupation of the Rhineland, 1936 (3rd ed.)
(solitaire, political/abstract, pre-WWII)
Occupation of the Rhineland, 1936 is a solitaire, abstract game of political and diplomatic strategy, set in Europe beginning in 1936.  The game simulates the French and allied response to the German remilitarization of the Rhineland, in contravention of the Treaty of Versailles.  The player--representing the French government-- attempts to remove the Germans, without plunging Europe into another war, and without threatening the French economy.  Diplomatic assistance from Britain, and the League of Nations, is necessary, lest France mobilizes for war on her own, without knowing the consequences.

Hindsight casually judges France harshly; put in the same situation, could you do better?

The new, 3rd edition has new graphics for both map and counters set, along with a revised rule booklet.
